This postcard by Jean Morris seemed like the perfect note to end the year on. She writes,
A year ago, on one of the first days of flinching cold such as we’re having now [Nov. 25], I photographed the cellist in the underpass, and posted this photo and haiku on my blog. The Postal Poem format adds something, I think, placing the words close to the source of the music, where they draw the eye as the cello drew my ear.
We wish all our readers and contributors a happy, safe, and productive New Year.

I really like this piece, Jean. It is full of sensibilities. Glaring at the emptiness of the underpass and the harsh elongated light, we feel, momentarily, the lone cellist’s world.
Happy New Year too to Postal Poetry.

I have heard the same cellist, in the same spot. Fortunately it was summer.
Beautiful work by Jean, as always.
