Teju Cole saw a Mariachi band walking home after a performance. He asked if he could take a photograph, and they enthusiastically agreed. He found he was more interested in the shot of the upright bass emerging from its case than in the posed shot that followed.

Terrific. I really like how the concept of Lazarus both connects me to the photo, yet takes me out of it and makes me smile, all at the same time.
